Having a business in Thailand, from a commerce perspective, can bring forth a whole host of new ideas and opportunities when it comes to doing business in the South Pacific and other Asian communities.  The majority of the top Fortune 500 companies all have established bases of operations either in Thailand or in one of the nearby countries which further exemplifies why having or owning a business in Thailand can be more beneficial than most people realise.

However there are a few rules and regulations that need to be taken in to consideration when it comes to choosing the best time to take the opportunity to expand your business as Thailand and the business rules that come with owning a company in the region need to be strictly adhered to if you wish to make the best of the opportunity to expand your business.  Registering a business in Thailand can be something of a lengthy process due to the amount of paperwork and the level of detail required in terms of setting everything up.

By this it is meant that there are certain goals that must be met before the business that is wished to be set up in Thailand will be approved.  These guidelines are in place to protect both Thailand and the business that is being set up from either interfering with Thai commerce and companies that already exist in the same field or sector and to make sure that the business is operating positions that would normally not be duties that a Thai staff member would be known for.

One field which this applies to the most is I.T.  There are a wealth of startups in Thailand when it comes to businesses in Thailand as this is the easiest type of business to have as well as being one area that Thailand itself it still in its infancy in terms of making the most of technology in both the information technology and telecommunications sectors.  This is why businesses in Thailand that deal with SEO and web design are currently the trend when any new foreign business in Thailand is applied for.

SEO and internet design in general is something that, due to the information technology infrastructure of Thailand, is still quite behind its Western counterparts.  Another area of business that is popular when it comes to having a business in Thailand is teaching English because only native speakers can really hold this position due to the fact that, in Thailand, English is not the native language.  When setting up a business though you need to make sure that the business operates under the Thai guidelines and that it is correctly registered with the correct number of Thai staff and shareholders and that, for foreign workers, they are all degree educated which allows for them to get work permits.

You also need to make sure that the business in Thailand that you want to set up has enough capital to be able to sustain itself for a set period of time also.  This is because every business in Thailand has to be approved to show that it has the means to be self sufficient whilst also being able to contribute to the overall Thai economy.
