Who does not like to come home from a hectic day at work and take a nice long dip in the swimming pool? Which kid does not run home from school to splash around in the backyard pool? Which couple does not love a relaxing evening in a hot tub? Well, as they say - with pleasures comes responsibility! It is the owner`s responsibility to clean the pool and maintain the hygiene standards of the water body. Whether it is cleaning the water, clearing the filter from the pump or scrubbing the swimming pool floor, the owners have to do it all!

Here are some tips and advices on how to lean your swimming pool or hot tub properly:

  • First and foremost, regularly clear the surface of the pool. Many a times, debris like bird poop, leaves, dirt etc, floats on top of the water and makes it unclean. Just grab the nearest net and skim it away. The more times in a week you do this activity, it is better for the upkeep of the pool in the long run because this is the same debris that can get stuck in between filters which clogs it and brings down the efficiency levels
  • Another important tip is to regularly clean and clear the pump filter. Small particles get stuck in between and you definitely do not want that to hamper the cleaning water procedure. Backwash the pump regularly so that it is de-clogged and cleared off
  • Also, cleaning and scrubbing the floors of the pool or the tub is essential. Growth of algae is possible and you do not want small dirt particles sticking to the bottom of the pool or to the walls of the pool. Read the owner's manual carefully so as to know how to scrub and clean the tiles properly. This need not be done every week but once every few months is definitely advisable
  • If at all, you see algae or any other blue-green thing growing, make sure you stop using the pool. Contact one of the experts like Filters4less at www.filters4less.biz/ on how to replace cartridges, on which cartridges or pump to buy etc
  • Make sure the pH levels of the pool are well maintained. This is usually mentioned again in the manual. Make sure the range is similar to what is mentioned by them so that the water is clean and does not irritate the skin of the users
  • It is also important to cover your pool when not in use for a longer period of time. For egg. - In winters, if you are not using the pool, shut it down completely so as to save on utility bills. Where as in summer, know your lean and busy periods. During the time you are not using the pool, cover it so that water is not lost to evaporation and less dust and dirt falls in the water

It is your pool - you have to clean it and maintain it - in order to enjoy it!
