There are absolutely tons of Bangkok tailors to be found in this bustling city but whether or not you get a good experience in terms of the clothes you receive is a definite lottery. I do not mean to say that in a bad way but I was merely referring to the amount of materials you can choose from, designs you can have and prices and promotion on offer as it can all be a little overwhelming to start with. Add to this the exceedingly friendly staff who will cater to your every whim and you will soon see why tourists come to Thailand and cannot resist paying a visit to one of the many Bangkok tailors available to get the custom clothes they have always dreamed of. I have always said that if it was not for the weather and the heat then I would break out my suit for a few more wears than I have had from it. Granted, my suit was last seen fashionable in a 70’s disco so it may be time for me to retire it and invest in some custom clothing the next time that I am in Bangkok and feel the need for some tailored goods. I am fussy though when it comes to clothes and I am also quite impatient and so I am not sure if I would have what it takes to visit a tailor as I have issues with people being a little too friendly. Suffice to say there are many Bangkok tailors who really are too friendly but I am actually starting to see that not as them pushing me for a sale but instead are them simply assuring me that they can do the job, after all it is custom clothing which means that there is more risk involved in making sure it meets my exact requirements, if it was just another off the shelf item then it would not be special really and it would not be unique and it is this uniqueness that makes Bangkok tailors really stand out. Bangkok is famous for bartering in terms of buying goods but I found that not only are my bartering skills terrible but most Bangkok tailors set their prices for a reason. The main reason being the competition as you can visit the tourist areas and see many different Bangkok tailors on the same street within minutes of each other and so competition really is fierce meaning that you are best to shop around if you want to get the best deal for your money and you can usually visit one Bangkok tailor and then go to a second with their offers and be matched or even beaten on price, such is the beauty of Bangkok tailors but this is what separates from department stores as it may be more convenient to shop there but if you do the research and legwork in seeing out Bangkok tailors then you will easily be rewarded with far better service and items.
