Starlight is a great theme and one can find many fabrics, wallpapers and bedding with star patterns. This theme appeals to both boys and girls and is available in many colours both bright and pastel. Wonderful theme pieces can be the star in a room. One might get star-shaped rubber stamps and dip into wall paint to create own star border, decorate furniture, or make random stars all over the walls or ceiling. A star quilt or rug will complete the theme. The ceiling might be midnight blue, with painted moon and stars or use some of the stick on glow-in-the-dark stars. Decorate a colourful painted bookshelf with crisp white stars or liven up a plain white chest with a rainbow of star shapes. Get a moon and star quilt or fabric to use for window treatments. Then add a moon cutout headboard.
Bathroom ceiling:
Using a theme in the bathroom for kids is a great way to spark up a bathroom. Choose colour scheme based on the theme or by using a fabric, wallpaper, or a picture for colour inspiration. Paint the walls a warm colour to neutralize the coldness of tile, flooring, and porcelain fixtures. Decorate with colourful towels and rugs chosen to match colours in anchor fabric or wallpaper. Hang pictures and choose accessories that support the theme and add to the colour scheme. Frame a plain frameless mirror with wide decorative molding. Add a table lamp on the counter for warm lighting. Use wall spaces for extra decorations, whether it be stenciling, wallpaper borders, artwork or other interesting wall decor. Add more towel bars or hooks to add convenience. Store extra towels in the open to add colour, either on a shelf, rolled in baskets or hanging from hooks. Remember to crate sky like atmosphere in the bathroom to give a look of real sky with stars in the ceiling. Tile and fixtures are shiny, so add plants, baskets and rugs for texture and warmth.
Simple decoration:
Keep things trouble-free in smaller bathrooms. Use less stuff but just as much colour and interest. Make own colourful shower curtain from a sheet and line with an inexpensive single liner. Try to give kids bathroom a touch of interest by simply adding stars in the ceiling. There are many glow star stickers available that will glow at nighttime to give the bathroom a beautiful look
