Qi-gong means Energy Cultivation. It is a part of Chinese medicine. Qi means breath in Mandarin Chinese and gong means work or technique. It involves the coordination of various breathing patterns with some physical motions of the body. Qi-gong is carried out mostly for health maintenance but some use it as a therapeutic intervention. There are about 3300 different styles and schools of qi-gong. The concept behind it is that, the body has an energy field created and maintained by the natural respiration of the body. Qi-gong is the technique of managing breath to attain a good health and enhance the energy mobilization of the body. Qi-gong and its association with Chinese martial arts are linked with spirituality. In some varieties of qi-gong, the students are told that humanity and nature cannot be separated. Any other beliefs are held as an artificial discrimination. As per this philosophy, admission to higher energy states and the health benefits, which are provided by these states, is possible due to the principle of cultivating virtue. This is a procedure that recognized that the human beings are not separated from nature.

Uses of Qi-gong

While watching television, it is very much practical to also practice Qi-gong. This practice serves a dual purpose. The individual is entertained by the television and derives the benefit of Qi-gong. The technique of Qi-gong involves meditation, relaxation, physical movement, mind-body integration and breathing exercises. Those who practice this method develop an awareness of energy in their body and use their mind to guide the energy. When the practitioner reaches a certain sufficient skill level, they can emit the energy to heal other people. It is also thought that Qigong enables to cleanse the body of toxins, restore energy, minimize stress and anxiety and help people to carry on a healthy lifestyle. It is widely believed that Qi-gong is the most powerful healing traditions in human history and a wonder of the world in heath issues.

Facts regarding qi-gong

Chinese and Western medical practitioners have belief that qi-gong can maintain and improve health by inspiring movement, increasing range of motion and improving joint flexibility and resilience. But the use of qi-gong become contentious when it is claimed that qi-gong achieves it benefits from qi, which acts as a biological plasma, that cannot be found by scientific instruments.
