Pregnancy Exercises

Pregnant women often take rest at home. For passing the time they are glued to the television. It would be very beneficial that these women perform some exercises. These would be helpful for them for a myriad of reasons. Some of exercises, which can be performed while watching television, are listed below.

Exercises to make pregnancy aches easy

Kegel exercises constitute internal contractions of the pelvic floor muscles. These support the urethra, bladder, uterus and rectum. Also the blood circulation to the rectal and vaginal area is improved. The Pelvic tilt or the Angry cat is done on all fours. It strengthens the abdominal muscles and back pain during pregnancy and labor is minimized. The Squat is very important for preparation for giving birth. This strengthens the thighs and assists in opening the pelvis. The Tailor or Cobbler pose loosens the hip joints and helps to open the pelvis.

Low impact aerobics, Stretching

While watching television, aerobic exercises can be done. It strengthens the heart and lungs. It also aids in maintaining muscle tone. As far as the exercises do not involve no jumping, high kicks, leaps or fast running they are categorized as low impact ones. One foot must always be kept on the ground to minimize stress on the joints. Stretching increases the flexibility, prevents tightening of the muscles and makes the woman feel loose and relaxed. While being seated or in a standing position, perform shoulder circles. This opens the chest and avoids formation of the rounded shoulders. The Chest stretch is done for 30 seconds by standing in the doorway. The Roll down and Waist Twist are also very useful. The Wall push up and calf stretch has to be performed 8 to 10 times to gain from it. The Mermaid has to be repeated twice while sitting on the left hip. The thigh and hip flexor stretch should be held for 30 seconds.

While watching television, if pregnancy exercises are performed, there are several benefits of this practice. These boost the energy, gives a better sleep, minimizes discomfort of pregnancy, prepares the body for childbirth, reduces stress and lifts the spirit and enhances the self-image. Most importantly, it gets the body back into shape quickly after childbirth.
