Ovulation Induction

Infertility is a serious problem that has affected many of the marriages. The propagation of any society depends on the birth rate. Thus it is very important to understand the nuances of giving birth, its control, and factors affecting it. Ovulation is the process of releasing eggs in the female reproductive system. Among the several eggs released one of them gets matured to fertilize with the male gamete. Thus formation of the eggs after the completion of the menstruation cycle is of prime importance for the reproduction. The process of menstruation is being controlled by several of the hormones secreted in the body. In the present day medical scenario if the rate of ovulation is low in any of the female or insufficient for fertilization then through external sources the rate of ovulation can be enhanced. This process is also called as the ovulation induction.

Process of ovulation induction

In the ovulation induction process the female reproductive system is subjected to some of the external drugs either in the injectable form or oral form. These drugs generally have the same course of action as the hormones. They act as a stimulator to the follicles thus helping in the release of more number of eggs after the completion of the menstruation cycle. The ovulation inductors may also induce the release of more amounts of the sex hormones like the estrogen and progesterone.

Some of the ovulation inductors

There are many of the ovulation inductors that are available in the market these days. Some of the popular drugs used as the ovulation inductors are Clomiphene Citrate, Gonadotropins, Glucophage, Parlodel and many more. Clomiphene Citrate is meant for oral consumption for the women with irregularities in their menstrual cycle. Whereas the drugs like Gonadotropins comes in an injectable form and it induces the follicle to produce eggs. Glucophage generally used on the patient of diabetes found useful to treat patient suffering from endocrinal abnormalities.

Word of caution

The medicines used for this purpose also come with some of the side effects. Thus one must be very cautious while using. Generally the medicines used to induce the follicles can enhance the cell division, which can get uncontrolled leading to the formation of cyst. Thus before using any of the drugs one must ensure its chemical composition and should resort to appropriate usage of the drugs.
