Retirement happens to us all.  After our working lives are over we are then free to live out the rest of our life in peace.  But what counts as peace is different for everybody.  Some people may try to use retirement to make long lost ambitions come to pass whilst others may just enjoy the time being less stressful and more peaceful.  Either way retirement can be a great thing and everyone enjoys a well-deserved rest after a long many decades of work and toil.  Therefore it is common that many people decide to emigrate when it comes to their retirement so that they can enjoy sunnier climates or experience another culture.

One such place to retire is Thailand. With Pattaya and Bangkok having a rich foreign influence it is also one of the premier places to retire and to make sure you spend the remaining days living life in comfort.  But this is not without its requirements as you will need a retirement visa to ensure that you can live out the rest of your days in Thailand safely and this does not come cheap.  You need to be able to prove that you have an income, such as a pension, that is of a required amount and that this is regular so that you can prove that you can financially afford to stay in Thailand for the duration of your retirement.  This works both ways as proof of being financially secure means that obviously that money will be used to live in Thailand and so the economy will benefit from it as well and everybody wins.

But you have to admit that there are not many better places to retire than Thailand.  Imagine being able to spend your days relaxing on a sun kissed tropical beach just watching the waves lazily lap the shore and time pass you by.  You’ve done the hard work and so now it is time to relax so why should you not be able to do so in a place so beautiful as Thailand?  The requirements of a retirement visa in Thailand can sometimes change due to the economic climate but usually when this happens you will be notified in advance and will be shown how to deal with the changes.  Sadly laws are never set in stone and so changes to them can be something of a regular occurrence but if you wish to retire in Thailand then you simply must do as the Thais do.

Accepting of the new culture that you find yourself in can mean that you enjoy your retirement that much more.  There are far worse places to retire that has to be said but many people are put off by the strict requirements for the retirement visa to be met but these are there to protect both you and Thailand and to make sure that, ultimately, everyone benefits from it which essentially is the best for all concerned as is definitely no bad thing at all.
