The ceiling fan is one of the most mandatory appliances required in every household. The fans are used extensively and share a great burden of work each day. Especially, during the summer season, the fans have to work round-the-clock as a cooling device in several homes. To ensure that ceiling fans work efficiently for a long time, it is necessary to maintain it properly and regularly.

Fan Maintenance

The ceiling fans do not require any major maintenance steps, some basic measures would ensure that the fans last for a long time and perform with equal competence. The first step is to maintain the internal mechanism of the ceiling fan. The motor of the fan must be checked regularly for any faults or minor flaws and must be serviced regularly. The motors are the basic functioning device in a ceiling fan and can get over-heated due to continuous use. This is the reason that the motors must be serviced regularly in order to make optimum use of the fan for a longer period of time. Apart from the motor, it is also necessary to oil the coil that is located inside the fan so that it works smoothly and efficiently. The coil can get rusty once the ceiling fan gets old and this may reduce the efficiency of the fan. Oiling the coil would remove all the rust and revitalize it so that it provides the desired cooling effect.

The fans must not be made to work at normal speed if they are required for a long period of time. If they were made to work at high speeds for a longer duration then this would over heat the motor and increase the electricity of the bill. Apart from these measures, cleaning the fans is also very important, especially the blades of the fans. The blades must be dusted and cleaned by a wet cloth to remove all the dirt that might have collected on the blades. If excessive dust gets collected on the blades, then it may spread to all parts of the room once the fan is in motion. This would make the entire room dusty and also make the inhabitants suffer from dust allergies. Hence, regular cleaning of the fans is a must not only for the maintenance of the fans but also for the cleanliness of the house. Fans are required for maximum part of the year and hence need to be maintained often.
