Applying of lipsticks

A lip liner should be used to delineate the lips before using the lipstick. This avoids the lipstick from penetrating the fine lines surrounding the mouth. Care should be taken that the line drawn should not be darker than the lipstick. If desired, the entire lips within the line can be applied with lip liner, as it functions as a good lipstick base. Further, a lip balancer is applied to the lips to make the skin tone constant. Then, you can apply lipstick. It should be preferably done with a brush as it assists in stabilizing the color. After applying lipstick, fold a piece of clean tissue paper and keep it between the lips. Now press the lips to eliminate the excess color and fix the remnant. If desired, you may apply another layer of lipstick. If more than three coats are applied, the lips will look very thick. So, this must be avoided. Apply a lip-gloss over the lipstick, to achieve a shining look.

Selection of Lipsticks

Matte lipsticks are dry and remain for a longer time. Cream lipsticks comprise of moisturizers and provide a better coverage. Hydrating lipsticks are essential for dry lips. Sheer lipsticks are moist and stain the lips. For determining a suitable shade of the lipstick, it is necessary to consider skin color, hair color and shape of the lips. If the skin has light color and the hair is blonde all tones of orange, pink or purple can be used. If the skin had dark color and the hair is dark all tones of red or violet may be used. If the skin has light color and the hair is dark all tones of brown or beige are recommended. Women possessing red hair are advised to use shades of coral-red, brown or bronze.

Tips

Those women who have a small mouth with small lips should sketch the lip liner outside the natural lip line. Those having a large mouth with full lips should apply a liquid foundation makeup to the entire mouth. Then they can apply lipstick inside the natural curves of the mouth. Those having a full upper lip should apply a darker lipstick on the upper lip than the lower lip. Those having a full lower lip should apply a darker lipstick on the lower lip than the upper lip. Lipsticks deliver the last touch to the make up of any woman. Her look is not conclusive without it.
