Leg exercises

While watching television the viewer is in a very relaxed mood and is absolutely entertained by the scenes. He can improve the utility of the time spent in watching television by performing some leg exercises. By this method, he can achieve dual gains of entertainment and body fitness simultaneously.

Exercises for Bad Knees, Lovely Legs

Exercise is the ideal medicine for frequent knee aches. Decreasing the stress on the knee should strengthen the muscles around the knee joint. 10 to 12 repetitions of the following exercises should be done 2 or 3 times a week. The exercises are Partial Squats, Step-ups and Side-lying Leg Lifts. The exercise of running will enable to lose weight and tone up the legs. The strength training leg exercises will help to accelerate the leg toning process. Choose a weight that can be lifted for 8 to 12 repetitions before getting exhausted. Lift to a count of four and lower to a count of six. If the weight is lowered slowly, the legs gain more strength. While lifting exhale and while lowering inhale. This exercise should be done twice in a week after running. The Leg extension develops the front of the thighs. While at home and watching television, sit on a chair with the ankles underneath the knee. Extend your left leg out taking care not to lock the knees. Then slowly lower the legs. After completing 8 to 12 repetitions on the left leg and then repeat with the right leg.

Other Exercises for the Legs

The Back squat concentrates on the leg muscles. It is just like the normal squat, but the bar may be placed across traps in different positions. The Calf Raise focuses on the calf muscles. The Front Squat is similar to the normal squat but it emphasized on the quadriceps. Novices or those having problems of the back use the half squat. The Leg Curl strengthens and shapes the hamstrings. The leg Press is done to develop excellent thighs. The Lunge isolates the front thighs. The Pile Squat develops the inner thighs, quadriceps and the glutes. The Standing Calf raise works the leg muscles. The Standing Calf Raise helps to build the calf.
