The liver is very important and without a healthy liver, a person can die. Unfortunately, the largest organ of the body is greatly affected by the way we live and the food we eat. The factors that can contribute to liver disease are alcohol consumption, unhealthy foods, drugs, and exposure to toxins found in our surroundings.  The liver plays a very important role in the body and it is the one that is responsible for filtering the blood in order to remove toxins. It also converts waste products so that the body can easily eliminate it. Through the liver, bile is created and this helps to process the carbohydrates and the fats that we get from the foods we eat. The liver also synthesizes glutathione and that element is very important in the recycling of used antioxidants. Other functions of the liver include the filtering of the blood stream as well as its role in the creation of red blood cells and the balance of blood sugars.

When the liver is weakened or afflicted with a disease, the whole body is greatly affected. The body will weaken and result to other diseases such as diabetes and hepatitis. When a person consumes too much alcohol, the liver will also suffer and lead to Cirrhosis. Naturally, conventional medicine are all available and liver transplant is highly recommended for people whose liver has been damaged beyond repair.
