A bed sheet is a type of bedding- a large rectangular piece of cotton or linen cloth bed cover. The bed sheets are traditionally white in colour, but now various colours and patterns are used. They are larger than the bed so that they can be tucked under the mattress in order to be kept in place. The quality of bed sheets is often conveyed by the thread count like the number of threads per square inch of material. The higher the thread count, the softer the sheet. A fitted bed sheet is not a simple flat cloth but is sewn to match the shape of the mattress. The corners are fitted with elastic so they can be stretched over the mattress, and then the edges can be tucked under the mattress. Sometimes this type of bed sheets are confused with a comforter, it is usually found under a comforter, but over the mattress cover.

Tips before buying bed sheet

Every body is familiar with a twin or queen or king size bed. While the top measurements are rather consistent from maker, there is some variation. So before go shopping, measure the bed carefully, noting the dimension from top to bottom, side to side and the thickness of the mattress. Some are wider or longer then others.

Choosing bed sheet

For sheets to sleep on every day choose the best one can afford. After all people spend 8 hours a day lying on them. Cotton is the most popular sheet fabric, but some people prefer non-wrinkling cotton blends too. For chilly winters flannel sheet is cozy. For luxury, choose satin, silk or micro fiber. One must know the exact size of the bed. Be sure that the fitted sheet is deep enough for mattress. Remember that many sheets will shrink as much as 7% in the first washing.
Buy more bed sheets than need
If the person has spent a lot of time deciding on what bed sheets to buy, so to avoid this again consider buying two or three sets that are identical. If something spills on the bottom sheet, it can replace just that. And be sure to buy extra pillowcases for freshness.
