Preparing Your Daughter for a Beauty Contest
Even little girls love to be appreciated for their looks and many little girls enjoy being a part of a beauty contest. Usually it is the mothers who suggest they enroll in such a contest and they are also the ones who ensure that every aspect and requirements is being met.

Here are some tips and suggestions on how to prepare your daughter for a beauty contest without overdoing it or stressing your child in the process.

Make It Fun and Entertaining

A beauty contest should be a fun time especially for children and the way it is being approached usually depends on the way the parents treat it. If you make it more important then your child s play time and have a very serious approach to it, you may actually stress your child in the process even if you don t realize it. Children tend to want to impress parents especially with their natural good looks and when a beauty contest becomes too competitive it will stress your child at a subconscious level giving her different types of disorders and complexes.

Keep the beauty contest as yet another game in which ensure that you tell her repeatedly that she is a winner for just participating and that it does not matter if she wins in the end of not; this way your daughter can relax and truly have fun at the event.

Using Make-up and Hair Color

Many parents use all types of make-up for enhancing their child s appearance. While a little bit may be okay, remember that all these products have harsh chemicals in them, which can damage your daughter s skin and hair prematurely. Light make-up is in order for the beauty contest however, since this is a children s contest the judges may expect no make-up at all! Don t harm your child s skin with make up and coloring her natural hair.

Everyone Is a Winner

Whether it is a beauty contest for children or adults, the fact is that everyone is a winner in these contests for being able to attend and mostly having fun. Children especially should not be focused on appearance more than usual as they may grow up with a variety of complexes and many times with the wrong approach to what is a priority in life. Many girls have attempted suicide because parents pushed them too hard to look and act a certain way, for example, to be too thin.

Beauty contests are meant to be fun and enjoyable by everyone who attends it whether it is a children s contest or for adults and more importantly everyone is a winner irrelevant of who wins.
