Astringents or toners are intended to enter pores, refreshing and cooling the skin while clearing away excess oil, impurities and dead skin cells that were not removed with cleanser. For attractive skin, first determine what type of skin one has and to properly wash and moisturize the faces accordingly. Another very important step to maintain is clean toned skin and use an astringent skin toner between washing and moisturizing the face. Astringents are normally referred to as toners and are basically used to remove oils and tighten the skin. Natural ingredients, like green tea, witch hazel, calendula, chamomile, yarrow, nettles, sage oil and avocado oil are the basis for a great number of the most mild and helpful astringents. Sometimes alcohol-based astringents are used to cleanse oily skin but these can prove to be extremely drying and strip the skin of essential oils for maximum health.

Effect of astringent or toner

A truly effective astringent should improve the circulation to skin tissues and cause them to tighten, control surface oil and lower the skin's pH after cleansing it. The toner also prepares skin by removing all traces of leftover makeup and opening the pores prior to applying moisturizer. An astringent can be used to cool and calm irritated skin, promote healing and takes away excess oils to prevent potential blackheads and blemishes. it is also used to firm the skin to minimize the appearance of wrinkles, prevent sagging tissues and improve the appearance of the skin overall.

Use astringent for skin care routine.

First, wash face with a gentle cleanser. Avoid harsh cleaners or soaps that could strip the skin, as an extra cleansing step will be received from applying an astringent. Dry face with a soft, clean towel, preferably made from natural materials. Use a cotton ball or soft tissue to apply toner to the face with gentle strokes, first on t-zone and then lightly on cheeks. Let the astringent dry on the surface of skin and then apply moisturizer. By using a toner inhibits surface skin oil and prevents breakouts. This type of three step cleansing process should be done twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Daily use of an astringent skin toner helps to make skin more clean, clear and healthy. By tightening skin and removing surface oils and bacteria, it can dramatically improve the complexion.
