Anti-Aging Lotions vs. Good Skin Care

There are many products on the market today that offer the promise to keep your skin from looking older and wrinkling with age. The questions that should be raised is how healthy are these anti-aging lotions and would it be healthier to simply take better care of your skin?

While skin is alike in the way it is made up and has the same issues, such as acne, itches due to allergies, and dry and oily problems, it is not true that all skin is just alike. The sun’s rays still have harmful effects on all skin types and colors. The sun can cause skin cancer regardless of what color your skin is and you should always wear protection. If you will be in the sun for an extended amount of time, cover your skin with clothing, use sunscreen, and try to get out of the sun as much as possible.

Pigmentation of the skin does not affect the skin type you have. It does not matter as to what color you skin is, you can still have dry or oily skin. You can also still have rashes, skin allergies, and other common skin problems that may bother everyone. The treatments for these problems are not treated according to the color of skin, but according to the problem you are having with your skin.

When you are treating problems, such as dry skin, base your treatments on the problem you are having. If you are treating acne, any acne products will do the same type of care on all people. If you are treating a rash due to an allergic reaction, you can use a basic allergy product.

As with all things pertaining to health issues, do not over use products with added chemicals in them. Topical creams, ointments, and even lotions may have harmful chemicals in them. Used sparingly, these chemicals hardly have any damaging effects, but when used in abundance, or used too often or too much, they can do damage such as cause rashes or cancer. You also should be careful as many companies may put all natural on the container, but they have added preservatives and other chemicals.

Anti-aging lotions may be all natural and safe to use. In the end, though, those who eat healthy, exercise, drink plenty of water, do not smoke, and use sunscreen have healthier skin. Anti-aging lotion may not be needed because of the proper care taken of the skin, before wrinkle had a chance to develop.
