6 IELTS Essay Writing Tips

Students are asked to write IELTS essays in task 2 of academic writing test where the word limit count is up to 250. In IELTS essays students are asked to write about their general interest but still they are able to win good marks, the most probable reason is the time management factor. As, students have to write their essay in a limited time period, they are not able to even complete it. Therefore, we are providing those students some tips for writing IELTS essay.

Tips for writing a better IELTS essay

1- First comes the time factor, you should prepare for writing an IELTS essays keeping in mind that you will have only 40 minutes. You have to decide how to manage your time in the first place by dividing the time accordingly. For instance, you have to store five minutes to think and develop ideas, five minutes for writing an outline, five minutes for the introduction, twenty minutes for body and five minutes for the conclusion.

2- The arguments should be well-developed, well-written and well-defined in IELTS, they should be pertinent to the essay question while there should be a good use of examples, facts and figures to support the arguments but make sure they are all well-organized because a hap-hazard essay would only confuse the reader.

3- Properly organizing the paragraphs in IELTS essays would also ensure some good points, since you have to encapsulate everything in 250 words limit then ideally there should be only five to six lines in one paragraph. You should make sure every paragraph is discussing a separate idea from the rest which are also supported by relevant evidences. Nonetheless, you have to make it sure as well that all paragraphs are interconnected with each other.

4- It is recommended that you proofread your IELTS essay again and again, because sentence structures, spelling mistakes and other flaws are counted in the test.

5- It have been observed that most of the students are not able to convey their message to the reader effectively, so make sure you are using every methods effectively to give your message in an understandable way. It is advisable that you go for a persuasive language in order to communicate with the reader because it is a great convincing tool.

6- Make sure you are not using high pitch vocabulary in your IELTS essay, these days officers don’t get impressed with the use of unnecessary words rather they want to read something that is clear and understandable.

Hence, you should make sure that you are following the preceding tips for writing IELTS essay if you want some good marks in the academic writing test. IELTS essay test are not that difficult, a student should just make sure of some little yet important things which can help them win points. Final words of advice are to maintain time management as suggested above and if you find any difficulty you can ask the instructor anytime to take you out of it easily.
